Rise of the Rune Lords

Exploring Sandpoint, More Goblin trouble, and Beautiful Women trouble Pt 2

February 3rd, 2017

When we last left our adventurers, they had assisted Sheriff Hemlock in investigating the tomb of the late Father Ezakien Tobyn's tomb as well as dispatching two skeletons left behind by an unknown group, that included goblins and something larger than a Goblin.  Also, Tobyn's remains were missing!  After being filled in about the back story of Father Tobyn by Father Zantus and making some assumptions about who would take the remains, the group decides to sleep on it and go to the Sheriff the next day.

Before they can make it home, Amele Barett comes running up to the group with her son Aeren in her arms, goblin bites on his arms.  She tells the story that her son has been scared for nights that there was a goblin, but no one believed him until now.  Knowing the danger, the party runs to the house only to find her husband Alergast face down in the closet.  When they pulled him out, a crazed goblin jumps out of a hole, haven eaten the face and torso of Alergast off.  The group dispatched of him quickly, but not good enough for Amele, who partially blames the group for not being "thorough enough".

After reaching the Rusty Dragon and looking for a bite to eat after all the craziness of the day, Ameiko Kajitsu's father, Lonjiku, drunkenly makes a scene, nearly taking a beating from the party as well as his daughter.  He appears to be trying to get her to come back to his business, the Glassworks, but leaves with a biting remark "You're as dead to me as your mother."  Ameiko seems to brush this off with a bit of humor, but you can tell that last bit about her mother stings.  She thanks you for stepping in to help by offering a second free week of stay, since you are further in to your first week.

That night Kiirion decided to take a look out at Junkers Edge, feeling as if they may have hit a dead end.  On his way out, hidden in the shadows was none other than Shayliss Vidner.  Still using her "rats in the basement" story, she makes it clear that Kiirion is the only adventurer she wants cleaning her basement out… but being the rogue that he is, his smooth words and convincing tone causes her to give up her chase with no hard feelings.  Also Kiirion found nothing out at Junkers Edge.

The next day, the group decides to go and talk to the mayor and see what's happening and try and make sense of what's going on.  They quickly discover that they were expected, and the mayor is in the company of the Sheriff and a new acquaintance, Ameiko Kajitsu.  After some introductions Ameiko reveals the reason for her earlier than normal visit to the town.  She says that the 5 goblin tribes are working together, which is unusual, and that the only way this would happen is if someone was leading them.  She states that she is going out to find more information, and the Sheriff says that he is planning a trip to Magnimar in order to secure some soldiers for Sandpoint, even if only for a few weeks.  He asks for your group to stay behind and be a presence for the town.  The town has grown to trust you for the most part anyway, and it would help to know you were there in the absence of their sheriff.  You agree, though your wandering hearts want to get out.  Well, you're about to have your chance.

The next morning the halfling that helps at the Rusty Dragon, Bethana Corwin, finds you and tells you that she has not seen Ameiko, but she found this note (link), and as the only law in town you have to follow up.  This brings you to the Glassworks, which Kiirion scales to see what he can see from the skylights.  He sees several goblins playing with body parts and a very dead Lonjiku Kajitsu partially covered in molten glass, on a chair.  The group decides to go in, attempting to lure the goblins out, but end up having to go in to dispatch them.  After a very misguided attempt to drag Evrain into a furnace, the group takes out all eight of the goblins in the room.  Clearly there is more to explore here in the Glassworks.  But not just yet. Until next time…

Note – sorry this is so far behind!  I'll try to be better next time, maybe I'll send it out in smaller chunks.  I'm sure I missed some stuff or glossed over other things, but you get the drift.  I know that it's not a necessary part of the game, but it certainly helps keep everything together!  Thanks for playing!!
